The Lake Tanganyika Authority Secretariat (LTAS), with the support of the European Union (EU), organized on 14th October 2016 a Technical Feedback Workshop on a work carried out by two International Consultants on the development of a Regional Programme of Management of Transboundary Resources in Lake Tanganyika and its basin.
The Assistant of the Minister of Water, Environment, Territory Management and Urban Planning, NDARUBAGIYE Theophile, who represented the Honourable Minister in the opening ceremonies, thanked the Representative of the European Union for having facilitated the process of developing the Program and the organization of the feedback meeting. He also thanked and encouraged the Lake Tanganyika Authority Secretariat for its efforts to work with various development partners.
Mr. Geza Strammer, the Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union in Burundi, expressed his satisfaction at participating in the feedback meeting because it was a subject that was close to his heart as everyone has a responsibility for the protection of Lake Tanganyika and its basin. He welcomed the work of the Consultants because it was a pragmatic report and wished that the 1.3 billion Euros envelope that the European Union intends to give the LTA Secretariat for the implementation of this project could pave way for other funding.
